After exhorting the believers to walk in unity (4:1-16) and to walk in holiness (4:17-32), Paul gave three more commands to walk closer with Christ. In the previous sermon, the challenge was to do three things—to make it a habit to avoid a selfish lifestyle (4:17-19), to make it a goal to engage in spiritual renewal (4:20-24), and to make it a practice to walk in holiness (4:25-32). In this passage, we learn three more things we need to make happen to have a closer walk with Christ.

I. Make it a Priority to Walk in Love (vv. 1-7)

A. I will love with the right attitude and not with hypocrisy. (vv. 1-2)

B. I will partner with Christ and not with the devil. (vv. 3-7)

II. Make it a Choice to Walk in the Light (vv. 8-14)

A. I will display the fruit of light and not darkness (vv. 8-9)

B. I will involve in the works of Christ and not shameful works. (vv. 10-14)

III. Make it a Point to Walk in Wisdom. (vv. 15-21)

A. I will be careful in my conduct and not careless (vv. 15-17)

B. I will be controlled by the Spirit and not the fles
